Who We Are

Welcome to RJM TRUST

RJM Trust Story

A legacy started in 1950 by Rajarathnam Matangi Born in Tangella, led by occupation and passion to serve the underprivileged in Chirrikurapadu, Matangi Rajaratnam, having been made competent as a Teacher, as a chosen instrument to carry charity among the villagers of Chirrikurapadu and purlieus of it, had educated the uneducated, empowered the impoverished, and ensured happier and healthier lives of disadvantaged.

Sri. Rajaratnam’s wife is Jennemma, who is self-controlled and pure, busy at home, kind, and worthy of respect all in alignment with the villagers around. They both together raised 8 children and survived by 23 grandchildren. All his children were taught of the significance of charity and social justice.

The social service activities by Matangi Rajarathnam in that region were actively carried out from 1950 to 1980, these were the days that came immediately after colonialism and when castes in india were ruling the roost. During that period illiteracy, female foeticide, malnourishment and poverty are rampant and access to human rights, education, healthcare, safe drinking water and sanitation seemed bleak or most of the time no access at all. Commemorating his services to the society, the villagers from Chirrikurapadu and from surrounding areas, with the help and participation Pushparaj Matangi, the youngest son of Rajarathnam, and his family members, have constructed an ARCH ENTRANCE to the village in a record time of 100 days and arranged a big gathering where distribution of caps and pens has taken place. Later, food was served to the participants and to the big gathering.

Born on 07.07.1910 and died on 31.03.2001, Rajarathnam has fulfilled his unconstrained ambition of serving the society until 1990, finally when he left for Hyderabad to his sons’ bosom for his final days before his death. That’s how after 1990 the charity activities came to a standstill and there was a lacuna until his youngest son Mr. Pushparaj Matangi jumped on the bandwagon around 2020 to carryforward his father’s ambition on a large scale.

About Us

Those who honor and lend a helping hand to the deprived and the underprivileged leave behind a memorable legacy. Those who live on, recall the blessings that accompanied their lives. Charitable activities that got underway around 1950 have lasted until Mr. Rajarathnam Matangi left for Hyderabad in 1980. Since then, there has been a hiatus until 2020 when his youngest son Mr. Pushparaj Matangi, a resident of California, USA, visited the region, interacted with locals, garnered opinions and recommendations from them to resuscitate the charitable activities on a large scale. Laden with burden to serve the needy, determined to establish a trust in the name of his parents, Mr. Pushparaj Matangi embarked on RJM (Rajarathnam Jennemma Matangi) trust. Paladugu Veeraiah, a local leader, met Mr. Pushparaj and brought forward an initiative that sprouted in his mind. The purpose of the initiative is to promulgate the honor and dignity of Pusharaj’s parents by providing charity in the areas where they rendered service to the locals. Simultaneously he advocated to institute a trust on the name of RJM (Rajarathnam Jennemma Matangi) to carry out charitable activities in the days to come. Upon serious deliberations, gratefulness and admiration for his parents that sprang out of his heart crystallized his thoughts to embark on this initiative.

To set the initiative in motion, he donated Rs.5k Cash Prize to sports students in Chirrikurapadu in his last trip. Further, a cash gift of Rs.6k for 1st rank and Rs.4k for 2nd ranks in the field of education were announced by him. Furthermore, as per the proposal of P. Veeraiah the erection of an ARCH Entrance at the village with the names of his parents engraved on it was accomplished to set the charitable activities in motion and to lay a stone alongside to commemorate their services is underway. At a rough estimate, project cost is around Rs. 5 Lakhs. Sumptuous dinner at reception on the day of Arch inauguration was hosted and locals, leaders and the students of Mr. Rajarathnam have partaken in the month of May. A Library and Information Resource Centre is next in our bucket list.

The country has 18 percent of the world’s population, but only 4 percent of its water resources, making it among the most water-stressed in the world. So also, a large number of villagers in this region face high to extreme water stress. A safe water supply is the backbone of a healthy villages, yet is woefully under prioritized, locally. Water scarcity prevention initiatives by RJM Trust include Sustainable water management, Reclaiming water, better sewage treatment and Awareness and Education. Healthcare: The Indian public health sector encompasses 18% of total outpatient care and 44% of total inpatient care. Non-communicable diseases (NCDs) are a major health challenge in India, accounting for more than 60% of all deaths in the country. The most common NCDs in India are cardiovascular diseases, diabetes, cancer, and chronic respiratory diseases. RJM Trust has come up with a economically sustainable model for healthcare in the region by way medical camps, technology usage and IOT. Education: Despite the fact that education is the most powerful weapon in the battle against poverty, some kids in villages are denied the opportunity to finish their studies. Right To Education Act of 2009 states that every child aged 6-14 years has the right to free and compulsory education. Therefore, RJM Trust has come forward to set up a school to provide education in the region and to provide evening schools and home tuitions.

Gratitude is one of the most important components of this initiative. It stands to reason that aforementioned charity events call for big budgets. Fund raising in all its forms requires a plan, a cohesive family and a unified mindset. Though I am determined to keep at it, I am delighted to oblige to any free-will contributions that may come to the table. Participation of any amount by the members of big heart is highly appreciated. I hope everyone can show his/her support. Pushparaj Matangi
